Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra- November 2011
The concert’s focus provided a perfect opportunity to showcase the orchestra’s new concertmaster in virtuoso repertoire. Noah Bendix-Balgley brought the entire audience to its feet with a stunning account of “Zigeunerweisen” (Gypsy Airs) by Pablo de Sarasate. His tone was lustrous, his phrasing full of individuality and feeling, and his panache in the fast final section was breathtaking.
